Artist's Biography

Julie Allen

You can find Julie in her Waterworks studio on lake Minnetonka fulfilling her childhood dream of being an artist. Her love of art began at a young age. Trained in the medical field, her art was put on hold until she met her husband, Jerry, who insisted she concentrate on following her dreams and her passion for creating art.

Julie is a member of the Minnesota Watercolor Society and her work has been juried and exhibited at local galleries throughout Minnesota. Her works have won numerous awards and honors and have been recognized by jurors and her peers. Many of her original works along with limited edition prints have been purchased by private and corporate collectors throughout the country; most notably by the Gallery of Modern Art in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Julie's preferred medium of watercolor has no limits in terms of subject matter, mood or color. "There are a number of basic things I look for and try to achieve in a painting....Good solid drawings, dramatic and pleasing compositions, along with evidence of skill in mastering the medium, and an emotional appeal that reaches out and touches the viewer.
